 2007/2008
EXCEL members enjoy a variety of field trips. There are some perennial favorites, like Dallas Children's Theater plays and the Dallas Zoo, that we plan for every year. Many of our field trips are suggested and planned by our members, such as a tour of the DART rail depot or a visit to the planetarium at the Science Place.

Dallas Heritage Village (formerly Old City Park) will have its special day for homeschoolers, Lone Star History Day, on October 5th. There will be lots of special activities in addition to their usual historical buildings and characters. It should be lots of fun for everyone.
Friday, October 5th
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

From Folk Art to Fine Art
In a day just for homeschooled students and their families, explore art throughout our historic buildings. How do people make art a part of their life? What kinds of art were admired in the 19th century? How did ordinary people become artists?
We'll be exploring 5 key areas of art:
  • Portraits
  • Ordinary Objects Made Beautiful
  • Fine Art
  • Advertising Art
  • Hobbies
Explore the art within the Village through a specially designed History Hunt. Enjoy demonstrations from our resident blacksmith and potter. Visit with our historic characters, and experiment with some of the crafts they know so well. Try your hand at special activities hosted by Tandy Leather and the Dallas Museum of Art.

Tickets:
